Lake County Jail

Inmates

Interview with Bee

JM: Did you find it difficult to get along with other inmates?
Bee: I didn't find it difficult to get along with other inmates. They knew this was my first time going to county jail so they tried to help me get by. They saw I didn't get any money so they helped me out. They told me what to do so I didn't break the rules.

JM: What types of things did you have to do to avoid problems or fights with other inmates?
Bee: I never had that problem really. There were a few that wanted to fight just because they said I was pretty but I told them they weren't worth me getting in more trouble and staying here any longer than necessary.

JM: Were you able to choose an inmate if you knew one?
Bee: I knew a few of the people there because Waukegan is so small and the majority of the people are from here. We even knew the police.
